Milestone, the studio behind Hot Wheels Unleashed, Gravel, Ride, and the popular MotoGP series, has released the first gameplay trailer for Screamer, with the '90s arcade racer set to make its comeback next year.

The reboot of the franchise was first revealed through a teaser trailer at The Game Awards in 2024, and until now, developers at Milestone have been keeping their cards close to their chest.

Screamer Gameplay Details and Trailer Released

In a rather exciting development for racing game enthusiasts and fans of the original title, Milestone has dropped the very first gameplay trailer for Screamer, unveiling some of the game's key mechanics.

As well as diving into the core mechanics and gameplay features, the trailer also teases the dark atmosphere of Neo Rey, one of the many stunning race sceneries that players will be able to experience throughout Screamer's dystopian-inspired world.

According to the Milestone website, players will be able to boost their way to victory with the ECHO, a unique device that fundamentally changes the game rules. This mysterious technology allows players to deploy a set of mechanics that will help them survive throughout the Tournament, where victory demands more than just speed against a fearless roster of bold and aggressive characters.

Milestone is also implementing a Twin Stick control scheme for every vehicle: Players can use the left analog stick to steer and the right one to drift. This precise setup ensures a satisfying driving experience for both cornering and combat.

Beyond the core driving mechanics, players will have race-changing perks at their disposal. The Boost offers raw speed that will push each car to its limit, while the Strike, which must be used carefully and strategically, lets racers eliminate opponents with precise timing. If they aren't enough, then deploy Overdrive for pure track-wide chaos.
