Gran Turismo 7 has introduced two new Online Lap Time Challenges. The first online time trial will offer players a great racing experience on the Tokyo Expressway, and the second one on the Alsace Test Course.
Both these challenges have been live since May 29, placing players in the best cars in Gran Turismo.
Gran Turismo 7 Alsace Test Course Online Time Trial
This online time trial in GT7 takes players to the Alsace-Test Course, an original circuit-type track in France that's around 1.32 km long. This track is famous for its near-180-degree right-hander that could occur for low-powered classic cars.
Fortunately, the vehicle offered in this online time trial is the Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34) '08, also known as the Nissan 370Z outside of Japan. The car comes equipped with sports tires, but wide body and overtaking aren't allowed.
Here are the race settings for this lap time challenge:
- BoP/Tuning Prohibited: On
- Car Settings: Specified
- Track Limit: Normal
- Shortcut Penalty: Invalidate Time
Currently, top contenders are breaking under the 52-second mark. This makes the goal for gold next to impossible, as the track is very short, which means there is very little time.
Gran Turismo 7 Tokyo Expressway Online Time Trial
This Gran Turismo 7 online time trial competition takes players to the Tokyo Expressway - South Counterclockwise, i.e., a city-type track in Japan with 6.56 km.
This event is a direct reference to the Manufacturers Cup races in the London event, so players will be limited to Gr.3 cars from limited brands. The selected Gr.3 car will be equipped with racing tires, giving the player an upper edge. However, wide body and nitrous/overtake are prohibited, making it a game of pure skill.

Currently, top contenders are racing around the 1:54.566 mark set by K. Morimoto, so to win the gold prize, you will need to get a flat 1:58.
To access these Online Time Trials, you'll need to unlock Sport Mode, which can be done by finishing Menu Book 9 in the GT Cafe single-player hub.
These events are updated every Thursday, with each challenge lasting for around two weeks. Currently, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya GP Layout - No Chicane, the lap time challenge released last week, is also accessible for one more week.
