Sony has introduced The Playerbase, a technology that scans fans' likenesses and adds them to PlayStation games. According to Sony, it's a way to bring fans even closer to the PlayStation world.

The Playerbase also serves to celebrate the PlayStation community and the relentless support they have shown for well over three decades.

As mentioned above, The Playerbase allows players to have their likenesses scanned and added into games from the PlayStation Universe.

The feature is only available for Gran Turismo 7 at the moment, but it will be expanded to other Sony video games in the near future.

This technology is accessible in select markets in the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia. Players can already submit their application to participate in The Playerbase.

From all the applications, Sony will select a few candidates for a video interview to know more about their connection and history with the PlayStation and their virtual worlds.

One lucky fan will be scanned into Gran Turismo 7 for a limited time, being showcased as an in-game character portrait. But that's not all, the chosen one will also design a "custom Fantasy Logo and a one-of-a-kind vehicle livery", which will be permanently added to the GT7 Showcase menu.

For that, the fan will be invited to the Los Angeles arts studio for a scanning day, and they will also collaborate with a designer who will help their custom Fantasy Logo and vehicle livery come to life.

The goal is to expand The Playerbase feature to other games over time, with fans being "featured in ways that fit each game’s own style and world."

Sony said the following about the brand-new feature: "The Playerbase is our way of saying thank you to the players who make PlayStation what it is today. We can’t wait to meet the fans who will step into the world of PlayStation in a whole new way."

More details about The Playerbase feature are expected to be revealed soon.
