Bohemia Interactive is putting a rally game inside its Cold War military sim.
Arma Reforger - Rally was announced on September 4 as the first official paid DLC for Arma Reforger, and it strips out the shooting entirely in favor of three rally cars, six timed stages, and a stopwatch.
The DLC runs on the base game's existing Enfusion engine and vehicle simulation, and it requires Arma Reforger to play.
Bohemia has not announced a release date or a price.
Three Rally Variants of Cars Already in the Game
Rally adds the Šárka 105 RS, the Sputnik 600 RS, and the Dana 2001 RS.
Bohemia describes them as purpose-built rally versions of the civilian cars already parked around the map, "each considerably faster and less sensible than the versions parked outside Montignac," and says each one brakes, turns, and loses grip differently.
Picking the wrong car for a stage is meant to cost time rather than simply cost speed.
The Šárka name belongs to the in-game manufacturer behind Reforger's existing S105 car, a stand-in for the Škoda 105.
Bohemia has not said what the Sputnik 600 or the Dana 2001 are based on, and neither name appears in the documented base-game vehicle roster.
Each car comes with a set of custom liveries, though the extent of that customization has not been detailed.
Six Stages Across Everon, Arland, and Kolguyev
The six stages are spread across all three of Reforger's islands.
Bohemia has described three of them so far: a run across Arland's airfield in the rain, a descent of Kolguyev's volcanic slopes at dawn, and a night run through Everon's forest switchbacks. The remaining three have not been detailed.
These are the same terrains that Reforger players have been fighting over since 2022, repurposed as timed routes.
Race conditions are customizable, with weather and time of day both adjustable, which changes surface grip and visibility from one run to the next.
Every Stage Records a Ghost of the Best Run
Each stage stores its times, and the fastest run on record is played back as a ghost that drives the line alongside the player. Beating that time replaces the ghost with the new run.
The framing Bohemia has used positions the player as their own main rival, which suits a mode built around time trials.
Direct racing against other players or AI drivers has not been confirmed.
Nothing in the announcement rules it out, but nothing in it promises head-to-head competition either, and the only opponent described anywhere in the official material is the clock.
Bohemia Has Shipped a Joke Racing Mode Before
This is the second time Bohemia has turned a racing gag into a product.
Arma 3 Karts was unveiled on April 1, 2014, as an April Fools' video, and community reception pushed it into release later that year as Arma 3's first paid DLC at $1.99.
Karts shipped with a 20 horsepower go-kart, driver and marshal models, racing helmets, a flare pistol, track barriers, time trial challenges, and Zeus race modules.
Bohemia used it to test its "features are free, content is premium" DLC model, and donated one million Czech koruna from sales to the Czech Red Cross.
Creative director Jay Crowe said at the time that Karts had "managed to raise money for a great cause." The studio later called it the best-selling Arma 3 DLC to that point, and later still made it free.
What Bohemia Still Has Not Said
No release window, no price, and no word on multiplayer.
There has also been no official explanation of why the rally theme, which team built it, or how long it has been in development, and no charity component of the kind attached to Karts has been mentioned.
The wider roadmap gives some idea of where this sits.
Reforger passed two million copies sold around April 2025, received Update 1.8 on August 13 of this year, and continues to serve as the live test bed for Arma 4, which Bohemia has dated to 2027.
