SCS Software has confirmed that Road Trip: Ford arrives on Steam on September 29, 2026.
The announcement landed on September 20 alongside a video trailer, and it puts a date on the first paid entry in the Road Trip initiative the studio has been building toward since April 2025.
The pack holds four licensed Ford vehicles, and it functions as the key to a much wider feature set.
Buying it switches on the Road Trip module in American Truck Simulator, including the Atlas exploration system whose groundwork shipped in the game's most recent update. No price has been announced.
Four Licensed Fords Make Up the Pack
The lineup covers a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback, a 2023 Ford F-150, a 2023 Ford Bronco, and a Ford Crown Victoria spanning the 1998 to 2012 generation.
Earlier previews showed the F-150 in Lariat trim and the Bronco in Badlands specification, though SCS has noted throughout development that engine and trim options were still being finalized.
All four are purchasable and drivable, bought through a new Car Dealer tab rather than the existing truck dealers.
Each can be fitted with accessories and repainted, with factory-inspired F-150 colors including Agate Black Metallic, Iconic Silver Metallic and Atlas Blue Metallic.
The cars also appear in ambient traffic once the pack is installed.
Cars Get Their Own Light Delivery Work
Road Trip adds small-package Quick Jobs scaled to what a pickup or a sedan can actually carry.
The freight market and job structure were detailed in a separate blog on September 13, and the loop runs parallel to trucking rather than replacing it.
SCS described the module as a chance to "complete smaller delivery jobs, customize your cars with accessories, paint them in different colors, or explore the vast landscapes of the U.S."
Buying Any Road Trip Pack Unlocks Atlas
Atlas is the exploration layer introduced on August 7, and it is tied to ownership of a Road Trip DLC rather than sold separately.
It scatters Tourist Boards, Points of Interest, Viewpoints, and Photo Trophies across the map, and clearing a region's locations rewards a collectible postcard that can be displayed on the dashboard.
The system works while driving a truck, not only a car.
At launch, Tourist Boards cover base-game California plus the Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota expansions.
SCS has said coverage will gradually extend to every other state.
This Is Ford's First Official Appearance in an SCS Simulator
Ford has never been licensed in Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator before now. The Ford Trucks F-MAX that circulates in Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a community mod, not an SCS product.
The licensed American truck brands in American Truck Simulator remain Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Volvo, and Western Star.
The Ford agreement covers passenger vehicles for the Road Trip module and is separate from the Ford Otosan heavy truck line.
SCS documented a visit to Ford's Dearborn headquarters in a September 2025 blog, and thanked the manufacturer again in the release date post: "We would like to thank Ford for their cooperation in bringing their amazing vehicles into our game."
Update 1.61 Already Put the Framework in Place
The 1.61 update released on September 15 and carried much of the scaffolding for this DLC, including inactive Tourist Boards and new gas station assets across the map.
It also added optional Proximity Exploration and rolled out the Improved Material System to the International LT and LoneStar interiors.
The Multi-Function Display and reworked in-game menu that appeared in beta were held back for a later build.
Anyone planning to install Road Trip: Ford should already be on 1.61, since the module depends on map content delivered there.
No Price Yet, and No Console Date
Road Trip: Ford is listed for Windows, with macOS and SteamOS system requirements also published.
The Steam page carries a planned release date of September 29 and, at the time of writing, no price.
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions of American Truck Simulator were announced in August 2025 but remain undated, and nothing about this DLC is tied to them.
What Follows the Ford Pack
South Dakota arrives on September 24, five days ahead of the DLC, and is among the first states scheduled to receive Road Trip content.
A second vehicle pack covering RAM and Dodge was announced in August 2025 and still has no date or price attached.
Atlas coverage is set to expand into the remaining states over time, and further map expansions already confirmed include British Columbia, Indiana, and North Dakota, alongside a Nevada rework.
